We need some advice!

May 29, 2016 by It's a Yorkie Life

We need some advice! We are so frustrated with our yorkie! We can take him outside to use the bathroom and he will not go! We bring him back in the house and he goes straight to the dining room and pees and poops next to the puppy pad. We are lost! Anyone have and advice on how to train this little stinker? He is about 9 months old.

You might try moving the puppy pad progressively closer to the outdoors, and eventually, even put it outdoors so that he gets the idea that is the place to go.

Others on previous threads have also suggested moving some of the solid messes outside where you want him to go.

I’m also a pretty big fan of the timing training method offered by the Monks of New Skete in their book The Art of Raising a Puppy.

The big thing though is to keep at it and not give up. Yorkies are trainable – but they are super-smart and will train you if you let them.
