Overweight Yorkie Snoring?

April 1, 2016 by It's a Yorkie Life

I’m just writing in to see if I can get an answer I told the vet my Yorkie snores she advised it may be because he is 1.5 lbs over weight. So 1 how can I go about getting max to loose his 1.5 lbs he is 6.5lbs now. And 2 he has always snored no matter his size is it normal that yorkies snore?

All I can tell is you that my Yorkie – when she was overweight – she snored consistently and so loudly. As she lost weight toward the end of her life, she stopped snoring and slept quietly. So if your Yorkie is overweight, it’s time for a diet and/or increased exercise. That will help a lot of things, not the least of which is increase the likelihood that your Yorkie will live a long life.

For your Yorkie, losing weight is the same as it is for you. Decrease the amount of food he eats and increase the amount of exercise he gets. Don’t forget though that he is tiny, so make SMALL adjustments in quantity of food and pay attention to if he is losing weight too quickly.
